Beyond the dam along the east perimeter of Mirror Lake we enter an area known as Camp Osceola, which was a summer camp for boys in the 1950s and 1960s. The girl’s camp was (as the usual practice) on the opposite side of the lake! Much of the camp property was purchased by the USDA FS in 198x to prevent residential development of the lake shoreline; the cabins used for the camp were torn down in 2003.
