Education:
Ph.D. Student, Cornell University, Department of Natural Resources (in progress). Advised by Dr. Timothy Fahey. M.S., Cornell University, Department of Natural Resources, Ithaca, New York (1995). B.A., Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts (1988). Major in biology, dean's list.
Professional Positions:
Research Support Specialist, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. 1997 to present. Teaching Assistant, Environmental Conservation, Cornell University. Spring 1998 and 1994. Environmental and GIS Planner, Town Planning Department, Ithaca, NY. 1995 to 1997. Research Assistant, Bruce Company, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC. 1989 to 1991.
Research Interests and Activities:
Currently, my research focuses on investigating the effects of anthropogenic disturbance on belowground productivity and nutrient cycling. Together with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers from Cornell and other institutions, I am investigating the effects of soil freezing on belowground processes in the northern hardwood forest at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest. Specifically, I use minirhizotrons to quantify fine root dynamics in response to artificial freeze treatments.
