False Solomon's-seal (Smilacina racemosa) is a common but scattered species on Watershed 6.  One needs to look carefully so as not to confuse this species with wild oats or rose twisted-stalk, which can look similar when not in flower or with fruit. This species has its flowers in a terminal spike, which can be seen in the photo below. Wild oats and rose twisted-stalk flowers and fruits occur along the stem or the leaflets, or singularly at a branch in wild oats. True Solomon's-seal does not occur on the watershed as it generally prefers more neutral soils.
