        Whorled wood aster (Aster acuminatus) is an occasional species on the watershed. It is a light loving species and is apt to be found in open patches. It flowers in late summer and flowering is much more abundant on plants in open areas. It spreads by rhizomes in the lower forest floor or upper mineral soil.  See photo below.
