In this picture, Tammy Wooster is sweeping down the sand
and gravel which has accumulated on the concrete apron leading into the
flume on the upstream side. This material would soon enter the ponding
basin and is included in the weighed ponding basin material. This
photo also shows the wing structures which direct the water into the flume.
It also shows the flume itself. The box structure on the left which
protrudes above the flume structure houses the flume chart recorder. The
"stove pipe" on the right is a vent for the gas heater used in winter to
keep the flume free of ice.
